The question is a bit like... Do you think you could win a marathon?

And the answer is similar. Could I get up tomorrow and win a marathon? No chance.
Could I start training to win a marathon? well yes I could.
If I started running every day would i do better? yes definitely... I wouldn't run a full marathon every day, but I would run shorter distances (short stories, articles, character sketches)

If I spend time developing my writing skills, AND ACTUALLY WRITING, and get some luck, and work hard, could I do it? Maybe... but unless I actually write I don't stand a chance.

And speaking of writing, November is National Novel Writing month. Your goal is to write the first draft of a new novel of 50,000 words in the month of November. It doesn't matter if its an amazing work of literature or pile of pulp. Its like completing your first marathon (Nobody expects you to break the world record on your first time out).

Don't be afraid of writing, In the words of author Mur Lafferty. "You are allowed to suck... you can always make it better by editing it later, but if you don't write anything you have nothing to edit"

Give it shot. Even if you don't hit the top of the book charts, its good mental exercise... and have fun

Yes I could. My hold up and draw back to actually do it is lack of self motivation, lack of desire to do the work required and most of all life things keep getting in the way of my writing times.

Writing a novel of any size isn't an easy task. It takes a great deal of commitment and determination. Most of all it takes sacrifice and a willingness to write, re-write, edit and re-edit many times before the editor gets it and has you do even more editing and re-writing. The good news is that the end result can be and is rewarding.

Here are a two helpful links to kind of give people an idea how to write and get published.

Oh gosh, I dunno... I supposed I could... but I'm just too damn'd lazy...

PLUS I don't know anyone trustworthy to agent the works, and these days God Almighty couldn't get the Bible published without a proper publishing agent... but good ones are very hard to find.

The publishing agents I found myself dealing with out of the yellow pages were either charliatans who would sneak a copy of the manuscript off to a bootleg printer, or they're only in the industry because they're too unqualified to do anything else, which means they are also not really qualified to be a publishing agent, but there's something about the industry enabling the unqualified to fake it insolong as they can cover their way with charliatanism.

Basically, it got to a point where I figured it wasn't worth it if I had to spend more energy getting it sold than it took to write.
