I vote in every election, including primaries, for a few reasons:

1) I care what happens in my city and state, and the people we are voting for are going to have a large impact on our daily lives, from transportation to taxes to public safety.
2) Many of our local elections are close races, especially when it comes to governor, because the west side of my state is liberal and the east side of my state is conservative, so I want to do my part to ensure good policies.
3) I want our elected officials to feel accountable. If they know only 20% of the voters actually voted, I think it gives them the sense that no one is paying attention, and no one really cares. I want them to know we are paying attention, we will weigh in, and they had better pay attention to what we want, or they can kiss their careers goodbye.
4) I don't feel its ethical to turn my back on taking responsibility for my community. If things go wrong, and I didn't vote to prevent that, then I'm partially to blame.

In addition to voting, I think it's a citizen's responsibility to pay attention to what elected officials (and, vicariously, appointed officials) are doing, and what they're planning or advocating for. When something isn't right, people need to speak up, talk to their legislators, and do something about it.

Yes, I do vote in municipal elections, more so than I do state/federal elections. The reasoning behind this is that the people who are running for these positions will have more of an impact on my day to day life than the Presidential election will.

That's not to say that the presidential election isn't going to impact my life, as we all already know. But if you think about it, your municipality can pass a ban on having a dog in your yard, leashed, penned, etc. If you have a dog that is chained in your yard, you will get fined.

These are the things that have a more direct impact on your life, rather than some federal bill to spend money on recarpeting the white house.

Yes I vote in all elections whether it is munincipal, state, or federal. I vote to keep my taxes from being raised, local officials (sheriff, coroner, etc), etc. These smaller elections make me feel safer in my community.

A few years ago, we had a sheriff whose brother lived across the street from us. The brother was always protected from DUI's, drug arrests, child neglect and abuse, while his brother was sheriff. We couldn't even get DHS to respond when it came to the welfare of his 2 children.

We were successful in voting him out, and now there are no excuses for this brother

Yes, even if I am not particularly interested in the outcome. As hokey as it sounds, I consider it my duty as a citizen to find out about those who want to run our county and exercise my judgment by voting. We have early voting in Florida, but I enjoy going to the polling place on the date of the election.
