Does "troops to teachers" make sense to you?

How well are former military personnel suited to become public school teachers? Would their military experience be a benefit, a disadvantage, or neutral?

YOU TURN IN THAT PAPER RIGHT NOW, WHAT CRYING?! CRYBABY! DOWN FOR 20! NOW! I SAID NOW MISSY!

Perhaps we should leave drill sergeants out of this program. ^_~

I kid I kid . . .

On a serious note I feel that if the troop's experience lends itself toward teaching such as an engineer teaching mathematics, or a field medic teaching biology, I feel it is valuable.

I do wonder though if we are going to have people retraining for things wildly outside of their specialties, IE teaching special needs children, I question the program. Something like that takes a very long time to train and a very soft touch, if someone out decides to do it just because there is an open program they may be in for an eye opening experience at the difficulty of the job.

I really believe the best teachers are the ones who started planning to be a teacher at a very young age.

good answer, some interesting insight. I also like the humor. reminds me of that line "are you crying? There's no Crying in BASEBALL" Tom Hanks
