I use reusable shopping bags to cut down on waste. However, sometimes I forget to bring them shopping with me. How can I remind myself?

Put them at places where you need to be before you go shopping. That way you can never forget it.

Keep them in the trunk of your car. Presumably you take the car with you to the grocery store, so when you notice you forgot the reusable bags, you just need to quickly run to the car and you have them.

One way not to forget is to keep them near where you keep your keys. When you go out shopping, you're naturally going to reach for your keys. If you see your shopping bag there too, you'll probably remember to take it.

We have a pretty simple system - once we empty our bags we put them right by the door so that next time we go to the car, we put them in the car. Next time we go out to the car, we put them in the back. That way they are there for the next trip to the store. The hardest part for me was remembering to get them out of the car before we went into the store (once I’ve got a cart of groceries I don’t want to run back to the car). After doing that a couple times, it pretty much became part of the routine.
It was unfair to choose no best answer
Several good answers here. I'm not sure what was missing from any of them.

Buy more reusable shopping bags.

Enough bags so that you will always have a few in the trunk of your car, in spite of the fact that it may take you several days from when you use the bags to when you put the empty bags back in the car.

As soon as you unpack them, take them back out to your car. We had the same problem until we started doing that.

I have a couple different things that I do. First of all, I make sure that I have an ample supply of reusable bags, both in my car and my house. They are not expensive (most are around a dollar) and I can always find a use for them. This way, I am hard pressed to find myself without a bag when I need one. If I notice I am running low on bags in the car, the next time I go into the house, I put a stack by the door to take out to the car the next time I am headed out. As another poster pointed out, this makes it much easier to remember to take them with you. Lastly, to make extra sure I have enough bags when I head out to the grocery store, I add them to the top of the shopping list. That way, when I do my last-minute check before heading out the door, my mind is jogged to make sure I have enough bags handy for the shopping trip.
