I believe that most blogs are personal, that's the very definition of a blog post as opposed to an article. As to whether people still keep personal blogs, I do, and I know many other people who do, but the trend today is toward short snippets of information, so personal blogs don't get as much traffic as they used to. It doesn't help that Google doesn't recognize of crawl any post under 250 words, so short little snippets now belong on Twitter and such, not on blogs.

Personal blogs now are more for discussing your views on daily events and other subjects, not for how your day is going. They are a little more serious, a little less banal, than they used to be. Still, having an outlet to express your feelings is always going to be something that people will want to have, so personal blogging will never completely die.

The lure of something like Facebook, where you can basically post "notes" which are essentially blog posts is the captive audience. With blogs, you have to wait until someone finds it and subscribes. On Facebook, you just add some friends, and VOILA! People are reading your innermost thoughts on a daily basis.

I personally prefer to post on my blog, then share the posts on Twitter and Facebook.

The millions of blogs that are updated every day say no. This is just another form of the hand-waving freakoutery that happens every time a new technology threatens, even in the slightest way, to displace something old. But blogs still exist. They exist in droves. And they're being updated and begun even now.

And Facebook notes are just another kind of blog, if you really think about it. It's just on a different platform. But people use them for "blogs" all the time. It's all about how you use the medium.

And the last, most compelling point -- You still can't put Google Ads on your Facebook or Twitter page (that I know of.) That alone will keep blogs very much alive.

I, myself am a contributer to a website called associatedcontent.com and helium.com. We get paid everytime someone clicks on one of our articles. So if you want to check out what I have posted on either of those websites my pen name on both of those sites is the same as my username here. Literally thousands of people on both of those websites post opinions, make out how-to guides and give their own reviews of movies, music and video games.

I don't think so. I'm an active blogger and I know a lot of other bloggers who still update their blog despite having their own facebook account.

And oh, I don't have a facebook account. See? I'm a proof of what I am saying. XD Some people earn through blogs. Earn through facebook? I dunno... I don't think people will give up on their blogs yet. ^^

I don't think so. The movie "Julie and Julia" just showed people how much attention a blog can get. She (Julie) also made a ton of money off of the book and resulting movie. I feel like I'm seeing a larger numbers of blogs lately, and I suspect that's a big motivator for some people.
