Geez.. there's so many factors... not the least of which being the reputation of the jail.

Some jails will just hold you and you'll be safe, but others dump you in with goons who can make things a living hell if you get stuck there for a whole night.

Presuming it's a minor charge, then if the jail is known to be safe, then I'd get him in the morning, otherwise I'd probably go bail him out right away.

Depends on which friend!

No, of course I would. I would only expect the same treatment in return if the same ever happened to me.

Dummy gets arrested, he can sleep on it.

I am a bit of a believer in tough love. If one of my friends did something that warrented an arrest chances are whatever it is he/she did would make me pretty mad. Depending on what it was, I may or may not be willing to help with bail at all.

To me it really depends on who the friend is...If it's their first time in the slammer and I know they didn't intentionally do what they are charged for...I would go get them..

However it is was someone who is in and out of jail for different things here and there....I probably wouldn't bail them out at all...but if anything it would be in the morning.

I suppose it depends on how good a friend he is versus how tired you are.

It probably would not hurt the person to spend a night in jail. It might even help convince him not to commit such offenses again (if in fact he did commit it).

On the other hand, if you know this friend well enough to guess that he would hold it against you, it is probably better to go ahead and bail him out.

If I do anything at all it will be after I get some rest. I didn't put him in jail so I shouldn't be looked to, to get them out.

If any of my friends called I'd be over there like a shot. I really can't think of any of them that have been arrested before so Its going to be a major shock to the system for them.

I really couldn't call myself a friend If I decided that I could leave them there overnight...

To me, it would not be an issue of my own tiredness but more a consideration of some other factors...how close am I to this friend? Do I have the money to post bail? Am I willing to put up collateral if I don't have the money? What was he or she arrested for? Do I feel safe going to the area where the jail is located in order to pick up my friend? It is not a simple question of whether or not I want to help my friend - of course I do. But the necessity of posting bail especially makes this a more complicated situation.

I would try to take an energy drink and i would go immediately cos a friend in need is a friend indeed. Imagine ypuself in the same situation. wouldn't want your friend to help you out immediately. If my friend was the reckless type and this happens a lot. I would wait till morning to show that he or she has to stop.
