Should the Titanic be left to rest in peace?

The company that has exclusive rights to salvage the Titanic is planning a possible expedition to the world's most famous shipwreck in 2010.... is this archeology or grave robbing?

I am deeply interested in the Titanic but I do have real fears about her breaking up when brought to the surface. I feel she should lay at the bottom of the sea. Where she is at now she is giving life to so many creatures, if we bring her up all those creatures are displaced and the death count doubles. Let her rest in peace.

LEAVE IT ALONE! The fact is that people actually went down with the ship, and this is now their grave! This would be like digging up a cemetary and putting all the coffins in a museum. We know the tragedy of the Titanic, there are pictures of it before and after it's fall, but just leave it to rest.

This is a great find, I personally believe that the potential to educate people about the Titanic and the nature of the time period is the greater good.

Perhaps revenue from the many museum peaces can be donated to charity. I strongly believe that if it is not salvaged eventually people will find a way to rob it.

I can understand why it's a touchy subject, but I personally would like to see a little more attention on the Titanic. Since the movie came out in 1997 it's been getting less and less attention. If we leave it alone forever, I fear that it will just fade into historic obscurity the way many other out-of-sight things tend to.

No, let's bring her up! The ship was never meant to be on the bottom of the ocean, and it should be brought to the surface where it belongs. Plus, since it's just metal and wood, the Titanic doesn't need to rest in peace. You don't have to be respectful to a boat's resting place.

And as for the people who perished (some of whom may still have some small amount of remains in that boat), I best guess is that if I were them, I wouldn't want to spend an eternity in my watery grave, after perishing there afraid, cold, and panicked.

Plus, think of what we have to learn! To discover! Think of the amazing treasures that could be on display in a museum!

I can't wait for that big beauty to see the light of day again!

Although I would say leave it...it is a great part of history...but it WOULD be so very fascinating to see above ground...I personally feel they should get it exactly 100 years after it's fall...That would be more interesting...
