I've had a stalker, someone who found me from things I said online. I had already reported his strange, obsessive emails to the police, but he lived in another town, so they couldn't do anything. He showed up at my house, and then I had him arrested. The police told me that if I had not reported him previously, they could not have arrested him, so I advise people to always report every incidence of harrassment, because they need three instances to make it stalking.
If I had one now, I don't know what I'd do. I used to not be afraid of anything, went out alone at night, took long trips alone,etc. Now it's a different world, and I'm afraid to even sit in my house without having all the doors and windows locked.
