Interesting question Bestpay.

I would rather receive a bonus as a result of success. For example, if I designed a product that the company marketed and sold, a great way to say "good job" would be to give me even a small percentage of revenue.

Still, a good manager will tell you when you're doing a good job and when you're not. The worst manager that I ever had would only tell employees if they were doing good work or not when the General Manager requested action.

Personally I'd have a hard time considering a bonus to be anything but "You've done a REALLY good job have some extra money for it"... So I'd take the money every time

However I can also imagine leaving a job where I get no praise or support from my managers and going to a lesser paid one where I really feel valued.

If i may i would prefer to have both a bonus plus praise. One of them gives meaning to each other..a praise without bonus is like an empty promise, while a bonus without praise is like a trophy without an award. bonus and praise need to go hand in hand.
