If you are feeling guilty, I am guessing you are thinking the thought "I should be giving more." This is part of the tyranny of the shoulds. You were trained from birth by your mom to feel obligated and guilty, that it is wrong not to take care of your mother. To distance yourself from this thought, preface this thought (or any others that you have) with the phrase "I'm telling myself......that I should be giving more." Once you get centered, you might then want to inquire about how your mother is feeling and what she is really needing. Check my Mahalo page on "listening skills" for some idea on how to handle this conversation.
