While I am not a preacher, and while I would tend to agree that I am not even a particularly noteworthy Christian, I have to say that the Bible has had the greatest impact on my life. When I was in residential drug rehab, the facility where I resided was affiliated with a well known protestant denomination, and they taught us to read our Bibles and pray, among other things. Especially during the first two years of my life as a recovered drug addict, I carried a pocket Bible with me and read it often throughout the day. I was surprised to read so many encouraging things and cool stories, as I hadn't read the Bible all that much until then, and I sort of expected it to be a long list of things I shouldn't do and how God was going to pound me if I broke any of the rules on that long list. Since then (eleven years ago) I've learned that a lot of great leaders, past and present, read the Bible regularly, and claim it has made a difference in their lives.

I'm not telling anybody else what they should do, but this made a big impact on my life.

The book that made the greatest impact on my life is by Norman Vincent Peale entitled "The Power of Positive Thinking". I am a type of person who has low self-esteem and I tend to worry a lot. Although I know that this has some positive effects on my studies because I strive hard and try to prepare everything from recitation to written examination. I never raise my hand if I am not sure that my answer is correct. But this has some negative drawback too because I am limited to doing things which I think I can handle only. I don't venture outside my "comfort zone" because of this and I think this did not help me.

This book made a great impact on my life because it changed me. It serves as a guide for me on how to face difficulties in life especially when it comes to making some important decisions in my life. Through this book I was able to come out of depression, to help myself without turning to pills or seek professional help. That conditioning our mind to think positively is a big help to make a person look through life differently and with optimism. I
