Why would a judge send a kid to juvenile detention for refusing to visit his dad?

Will any good possibly come from sending this kid to Juvenile every weekend because he doesn't want to visit his dad?

None! I don't believe this judge really believes that this child will want to see his father any more after he goes to the youth home for the weekend, than he did before the judgment. We don't know if he got belligerent in court with the judge either. If this was the case, it could be a case of the judge giving punishment to the boy for his behavior in court. However, I can't see where mouthing off deserves a stay in Juvie. I could be wrong, but it sounds like someone wants some notoriety. I don't know for sure, but it seems to me that the child isn't the one who wanted all of this until he was pushed into a corner about it. We don't know all of the circumstances behind this child's revulsion for his own father, but you can't make a person love their parents. They either do or they don't (much of which has to do with the child's first 5 years of life and the love they received from said parents). If they don't want to see their own parent, they shouldn't be made to see them after they are of high school age. We push our children to grow up, give them heaps of responsibilities and ask them to make decisions for themselves, but when our children show us they can make decisions some of us act immature and do not respond well to the decisions our children choose to make. His father is not seeing clearly that he is pushing his own son further away by demanding his visitation rights. Their relationship will be irreparable after this is over.
