I feel that the driving force for one to generate income is one's health. If one's health were to be compromised, as I assume it would be if one were to postpone or cancel a necessary surgery, so would one's income in the long term.

If that needed surgery would provoke a situation were I would not generate income throughout my recovery, I would liquidate a minor asset to sustain myself for that length of time, or I would seek to procure a bridge loan to cover my expenses for that time period, or I would approach my employer and attempt to negotiate an advance on future earnings.

There are many options, but compromising your health is never one of them.
