WOW. Good Question.

Let me answer twice . . .

In an ideal world yes. Saving his life could be a wonderful thing for him and any one he could ever help to hope in the future.

In a realistic world no. It pains me to say that, but I think fear and self preservation would kick in. I may shout "look out" I may try to disarm the shooter if I am close enough. . . but as far as jumping in front of a shot, I would have a moment of thought that if I jumped in front of a gun it is very likely the bullet would simply kill us both. That moment of hesitation would likely give me pause.

I can't say enough how much I respect the secret service. They have the training to avoid that hesitation & deal with that situation.

I had the great honor of meeting a retired secret service member. He had a thankfully uneventful stay, yet I consider him a hero for what he could do and what he was willing to do.

• Thanks for answering! Great point about the fact that it could kill both of you, and thanks for your honesty.

No.
He's only the President of the US. He isn't part of my family and I really don't think you could pay me enough money to protect the life of a politician, even one I admire.

Family, yes. I'd take a bullet for them, but not a President.
