For our family, yes I would! The year round school that is offered through our charter school starts Mid-July and ends at the beginning of June. There are breaks throughout the year lasting 3 and 4 weeks each.
Check out this year round school calendar

It leaves plenty of time for vacations, camps, family time and holidays. I can't think of anyone who needs a three month long vacation or who could actually afford it. "Back to School" could be celebrated just like it is now. You would still get to see your children as they wouldn't be in school 5 days a week for 52 weeks a year.
They would still have "child time" too... only spread out over the year. This would actually give them MORE chances to relax and get away from the stresses of school and come back recuperated and ready to learn again. Only this way it would not take an entire month of relearning what they forgot after 3 months of no school.
It may not work for everyone, but for a family like mine, it is what we have been looking for.

I would need to know more details. If year round school were in place, what kind of breaks can they expect. I believe summer can be a cruical part of a childs growth. Taking trips with family, going to summer camp, and spending time outside exploring can be just as beneficial ad sitting in a classroom. As log as there were enough breaks in the schedule so these activites could continue, I think it's ok.

No, I wouldn't. Children need time to relax from school. They cannot absorb information all-year without a needed break every now and then. Further, children need time to be just that-children. They need playing time.
For children, playing is not just leisure, they learn from it. They learn to work together with others, communication, ethics, and a bunch of other 'soft skills', not taught at school.
If they would be in school all year, they would miss out on all that.
Plus, even worse, I would miss out on THEM too! Would I really want to NOT see my kids during daytime all year long? Certainly not.
I surely hope such a regulation would never happen in my local school district., I would certainly vote against it.
Plus, without holidays, we wouldn't have 'back to school' any more!

There are two ways that school districts use year round school- one is done to better use the facilities, by operating the schools year round, but having students only attend for nine months, with different groups being off at different times. This is usually done in order to avoid having to build another building. The other way keeps children in school year round. I do not support keeping children in school year round, as I feel that there is learning that takes place outside of the classroom, and extended vacations are needed to give children the time to explore other passions.

I homeschool my son and we take the summer off. We tried at first to go all year around bit it was very frustrating for him to see the other kids outside playing while he had school. The one thing I've learned while doing this is that all children are different and what works for one might not work for another. It would be nice if it could be a family decision based on what works for their child.

My son was in a year-round school when he was in elementary school here in San Diego and I absolutely hated it. The way that it worked here was that there were three different "tracks". Each track would start at a different time and be off at different times. This was especially bad for kids whose friends ended up on different tracks. The way that it worked was that they would go to school for two months, then would be off for 3 or 4 weeks. And of course the kids wouldn't do any studying during their time off, and would go back to school forgetting what they learned before the break. It is not a good idea at all. The only reason schools do this is because of over crowding.
So, no, if I ever had the chance to vote for it, I would definitely vote against it.

Yes, our education system has gone to crap and from what I read students wouldnt be in school 261 days they would get their regular holiday vacations and a few extra weeks off during the year. They would just have a CONTINUOUS education.
