Inhale a lot and deeply. Our noses become dull to smells fairly quickly, and it would be rude to not allow someone to relax as much as possible in an already cramped space.

I'd first take that opportunity, if I can, to go visit the lavatory, just to be away from the smell when it's the strongest. It shouldn't be too conspicuous -- bathroom quality aside, it's something that people just have to do.

Once I get back, if it still smells that bad, there isn't much I can do but turn toward the window (if I'm in a window seat) or turn toward the aisle if not. (If I'm in a middle seat, I guess I'm out of luck, but since this is me, I wouldn't be! I'm a window seat person.)

I guess I could get a flight attendant, but honestly, something like this isn't worth making a scene about. Most likely, I'll never see this person again, and the flight shouldn't be too long. There are worse things I've had to put up with.

Oh no, I would definitely have to ask the person to put their shoes back on because of their foot odor. I would be specific. I have zero tolerance for that type of odor and the air is undoubtedly filled with bacteria from the person's feet. I would, however, be polite and say "please". It would be the malodorous foot person's responsibility to not have a scene. The flight attendant would have to see about the person if they refused to put their shoes back on. If they wanted the luxury and comfort of having their shoes off, they should have made sure that their feet didn't smell horrible. Just because they don't care, doesn't mean that the other person will let them get away with it. Even if I did have a mask filter with me and put it on, it would most likely not stop the germs and bacteria from floating in the air.
