If I am running late for work and an elderly neighbor waves me down requesting for a ride to the pharmacy, I will stop and give my neighbor a ride. I don't mind being late for work as long as I was able to help him. He is old and he might need the medicines so badly or maybe he is buying these medicines for his wife.
My boss may not approved of my tardiness but I don't think this will make him fire me. But it is not everyday that an elderly neighbor is going to ask for a ride at the pharmacy. I would be very happy to give someone a favor especially an elderly one because when I will grow old I might be the elderly who is going to ask a neighbor for a ride and I would be lucky if a neighbor of mine will give me a ride to the pharmacy.

I would tell my neighbor that I was late for work but that I would be glad to drop the prescription off at the pharmacy on my way. I would also tell them that if they couldn't find anyone to take them to pick it up, that I would be glad to pick it up on my way home.

IF I am already late for work then I would take him and wait for him to get the prescription then take him back home. If I was almost late I would offer to either take him and bring him home, or if he didn't need the medicine until the evening I could drop it off on my way in and pick it up for him after work.
