Answered Conundrum Next Conundrum
If you found out your friend let your Kindergartener ride in the front seat of his car without a carseat, what would you do?
Would you report him to the police? Would you be able to forgive him and ever trust him again? What would you say to that person?

If I would set up for my child to be transported by a friend, I'd make sure in advance that there is a car-seat or booster (as appropriate) for their use. I'd also make sure the friend knows how to mount the car-seat. To not provide this car-seat/booster, and/or not make sure the friend knows how to mount it would be thoughtless of me.
After I'd provided the car-seat or booster and instructions, if my friend still did not use it, and had my child sitting in the front seat of his/her car I'd do several things (none of which involve the police).
1. Ask why they chose to do as they did.
2. Verify they know how dangerous this is to the child.
3. Unless this was an emergency and somehow justified (I can't imagine how, but life can be stranger than fiction so I'll leave this open), I'd never let that friend transport my child until the child is old enough to ride safely in the front of a car. I'd also make sure not to trust that friend's judgment on things that are important to me.

Well if it was the first time I would not go to the extreme to report them to the police. I would politly ask that it never happen again. I would tell them how unsafe it is for your child to be in the front seat not to mention without a seat belt. I would make sure they understood that this will never happen again. If this happened again I would simply not allow my child to ride with them again in a car. I know that seatbelts/carseats/booster seats save childrens lives every day. My child is worth way too much to me to allow such a stupid mistake that could have been avoided so easily.

I would sit her down and have a talk about that one...I will have to tell her there is a reason there is an age limit on those in the front of the vehicle. I would give her that warning, and if it happened again my child would not be riding in the car with her again.

Let him know that not only do you not appreciate his flagrant disregard for your child's safety but that it is also illegal. If he does not have a carseat or booster seat of his own to use for your child and you plan on having him drive your child around a lot buy him one to use. But if it does keep happening after you have done all this I would report him to the proper authorities.
