I have had two children and have actually recorded both births (and would definitely do it again for a future child). When I had my first child I was still young and definitely wanted the full experience even after the fact. I knew I would be in horrific pain, which I was, and would likely not be able to remember the beautiful part of my child actually coming into the world, and so I decided to have my husband record the birth for me. During the second birth, I had no choice but to record it. When I was 6 months pregnant my husband, who was in the military, had to deploy to Iraq and was not able to be present during the birth of our second baby. My best friend was in the birthing room with me then and also recorded the birth for us so that my husband would be able to see the birth upon his return from Iraq and not feel as though he missed out on everything. Luckily I had both my children in Germany, so we were able to record the births from different angles, not only from the head of my bed. I am glad that I choose to record my children being born, simply because I was able to watch their births after I had recovered from the pain and felt well enough to visually enjoy the miracle of childbirth. It was not weird or gross, since it was my body and my child and nobody else needs to see the video but my husband and I.

No...
As much as I love my little daughter, and have treasured photographs from a few minutes after she was born, theres no way that I would want a video of the birth itself.
We did actually talk about this before she was born and decided it was a bad idea. We'd never actually watch it and the last thing we wanted to be worried about was someone (possibly me) pointing a video camera around.

I have not yet had children, but I already know I do not want a video camera in the birthing room. Frankly, I am not even sure I want to be cognizant of the experience, let alone record it to make others live through.
If, however, I had to have a birth recorded, it would have to be from the head angle ONLY.

I've never had children and am not sure that I am going to in the future, but I can't imagine that I would want a birth video. Obviously, I've never had any experience even close to giving birth, but I've been under anesthesia for a few operations, and let's just say that I am really, really not a pleasant person to be around if I happen to wake up. Hearing about it after the fact is bad enough; I don't want this recorded for posterity.
Besides, I'll have years of more pleasant memories with my child to remember and, if I choose to, videotape.

I have not had a child yet - so I can't really decide with certainty, but I would say that from the moment where the child is born and the father takes him/her into his arms, to the point wherever it would be appropriate to finish - I would approve of a recording. But anything before that; the suffering, the pain of labour, I would definitely NOT want that recorded. No need to relive that experience by camera.
