Answered Conundrum Next Conundrum
If you were wavering on the flu shot, would this video settle anything?
Because Desiree Jennings got the H1N1 flu shot, she will be disabled for the rest of her life. If you were uncertain of whether to get a shot, what would you think after watching this? Would you decide against the shot or dismiss this as a once in a million side effect.

The video doesn't surprise me. I think "listen to your government" is what this is about. Most of the sources claiming the vaccine is "perfectly safe" come from the government. It may be a one and million chance at what happened to this particular girl, but this is just one risk that has come out in the short time that the vaccine has been available
To me, this would waver my opinion more were it not firm in not taking the vaccine.

These sites provide the information on the package insert that comes a long with the vaccine that lists it's actual risks. You don't need to read all the links, they all say the same thing, one will do it.
Just like driving a vehicle you should know your risks ahead of time, and decide for yourself what is and isn't safe for you, not "listen to your government".

It's a dreadful thing that happened to her, but one must really weigh the odds. Any medical procedure carries some measure of risk. Now assuming that the "one in a million" figure quoted by Johns Hopkins is correct, that means we would have 400 people similarly effected if everyone in the US received the vaccination.
On the other hand, more than ten times that number are permanently injured EVERY DAY in auto accidents (2,000,000 annually). If you were wavering on going to work today, would that figure affect your decision to leave the house?

I can't take flu shots because of the raw eggs in them, but I wouldn't have anyway after reading this:
