If your friend is terribly obese and you're concerned for her health should you say something?

You planned a party and made sure that they was a variety of healthy snacks but she goes for the high calorie, high fat one she brought. Should you say something? Plan an intervention?

If this person is truly a good friend of yours, you should say something in private, outside of the party. Obesity shortens your life, period....and you don't die peacefully in your sleep, it's a slow process-dragging on for years (congestive heart failure, hypertention, diabetes, dementia, sleep apnea, among others).

Tell your friend that you want her around for more years. Express your concern and that you want a good friend around for longer. Don't offer to help specifically, unless she initiates it. If she gets mad, so be it, if it prompts a healthier action. In the long term, she may thank you. There are many tactful ways to go about it.

No, I'm sure she realizes she is terribly obese. Saying something will only make her feel bad and want to go home and eat a half gallon of ice cream.

I would say to that Friend, "Hey have you tried the wonderful snacks that I made?" and proceed to let that friend know where I got the recipes from and all the healthy ingredients each snack contained.
