Single Parents do you have concrete plans in place on how to care for your children should an emergency occur.

Too many of us do not prepare for the unexpected. Recently I was hospitalized after having a heart attack. With younger kids, this would have been bad but mine are teens and could look after themselves for a few hours. I realize many single parents have little kids, how will you prepare for this? It is always better to have a just in case plan in the event on an emergency

You're right and this is something we all should be aware of. I'm fortunate that I live within blocks now of my parents, brother's family and my sister's family. If I had an emergency such as yours I know that one of these households would help out with taking care of my 6 year old.

Of course, she thinks she's more than capable of taking care of herself ;) If I could be at home, we'd be fine because she can pretty much keep herself busy, besides needing me to make food and stuff.

It's the money part of an emergency that tends to be the biggest burden for single parents though. In that respect, I'm in no way prepared.
