Why do you think the moon cup is not more widely known in the U.S. and not sold along side other feminine products?

A few years ago when pregnant, I read about the mooncup in a Consumer Reports magazine about how to go green. I've always hated the waste created by tampons and pads but had never heard of the mooncup. The diva cup is made of latex and some people have problems with that but the moon cup is silicone. http://www.mooncup.co.uk/ has some good information about it but living in the U.S. I had to buy the diva cup versions because the Diva Cup company trademarked the Mooncup name and now the U.K. company can't sell here. I recently remembered about it and ordered one and now wonder why it is not more widely known.

Advertising is key in the United States. I have heard of this product, but have never seen a TV, an internet banner, or a magazine ad. If they were able to advertise it, they would probably do okay here.

Honestly, I wouldn't use it. The whole process just seems unpleasant. I agree that the United States has become overly dependent upon disposable things, and we throw away way too much stuff (paper towels and napkins because we refuse to wash and reuse linens, disposable dust clothes, etc.) but I have to admit that I'm a fan of disposal hygiene items. I can live with myself for those things. Not my proudest contribution to the future, but that's my line...

I have to say, I thought it would be too but it isn't any more or less unpleasant than any other option, and I like the lack of trash. Placing it though is a series of trials and errors.

I was surprised to learn how long they have been around as well. The diva cup has been around since the 80's. I don't understand why it's such a well kept secret and why they don't advertise more. I think with the green movements, they may become more popular.
