No, it wouldn't. I ate beef during the last scare and I turned out fine. I haven't gotten swine flu, bird flu, Ebola, West Nile Virus, or whatever they're telling us to worry about this time.
The problem with a lot of these things is that legitimate threats they may be, but a lot of it is panic that feeds on itself. If beef has been certified safe, in the light of an outbreak you can bet that that decision was NOT made lightly. Too many legal consequences.
More to the point, though, changing my eating habits (and I rarely eat beef anyway) over such a minuscule risk isn't worth it.
