Conundrum Next Conundrum
What can I do about my neighbor's loud music during the day?
My neighbor's teenage son and his friends have been 'practicing' with their band this summer in the garage, everyday, for hours, until about 10:00 p.m. Now that schools back in session, at least they'll start a little later in the day, but it's still a nuisance. What can I do?

Research your local code. I dealt with the same thing here and after a bit of digging, I learned that certain noise, regardless of time of day, is a violation. A few calls to the local police took care of it.
Alternately, you might politely ask them to practice somewhere else or turn it down a bit. That may take some finesse, as to not come off rude or frigid, just state your reasoning and ask nicely. The worst that will happen is they will continue to play and you will be right back where you started.

I believe our local code says no loud music after 10p.m. - but this never made sense to me, as young kids are (hopefully!) in bed at that hour. Explain as best you can about your kids...let these guys know while you think it's fantastic that they're practicing so hard and so often, you'd really appreciate it if they could take it down a few notches, say after 8pm? That seems perfectly reasonable.
