What is the best way to get burn marks out of a light-colored carpet?

There are a couple ways that you can successfully remove burn marks from a carpet. The first thing that you should try, is to scrub the burn with steel wool or a razor blade. Then vacuum away the residue.
If the carpet doesn't look better after that, you can replace the burned carpet with a small cutout of fresh carpet. Get a small piece of carpet that matched yours. Cut out the burned spot with an exacto knife. Place the cut out piece on top of the new piece of carpet and trace it with the exacto knife. Use hot glue or krazy glue to place it back into the hole you just cut out.
