I don't really believe the economy is getting better in the sense that results are happening now. Yes, some of the indicators might indeed, as government officials have said, be improving, and we may be out of the worst of it, but it'll be a long time until things are good again. For some industries, like journalism, it'll take even longer.
So I do save money. I save it so that I have something to fall back upon when I need it. In my case, I'm saving it for graduate school -- every little bit saved is a loan I don't have to take out.

Do you save money? Yes.
What are you saving it for? Right now my husband and I are saving money for Spring tuition and books and car maintenance, and repair. Once we get into 2010, we'll start saving money for Christmas and Summer semester.
Do you honestly believe that the economy is getting better? Yes I do. BUT I am also in Utah, and I don't think the recession has hit us as hard as it has hit other places in the US. I think it's getting better, we're just not back to where we used to be.

We are saving so we can pay cash for our next vehicle instead of having a car payment. The car we have now is a 2000 and it is still running. Here's hoping it will run long enough for us to save up for a new car. If it dies we will get a used one though. We will never have a car payment again. You pay more than twice the price of the car, because of the interest!
I do believe the economy is getting better, if only because I have to believe or else I will get depressed.
