Do you find it fun to contradict other people? You know to contradict on purpose.

Some people I notice almost view this as sport.
Do you ever contradict for sport or to be controversial?
Do you ever contradict just for the fun of it?

Yes. I contradict regularly. However, I'm very careful about how and when I do it.

I (usually) only contradict someone if:

1)
I am expected or asked to do so. Playing the "devils advocate" is an important role that requires an in depth view of the subject or task to succeed at.

2)
I feel strongly about something that I very clearly know is wrong. I will usually downplay my assertiveness and acknowledge both sides of a contradiction, but I will make my stance known. Whenever possible, I support my side with real facts rather than conjecture. If all the support I have is conjecture, I will carefully consider the other view and ask myself if I'm correct.

At the end of the day, if I'm in charge... I make the decision that is correct. If I'm not, I do my best to ensure that the person who is in charge has all of the information in front of them to make a clear decision.

I might contradict someone for fun, if the person knows I'm just playing with them and they do it too. I don't find it fun just to be a jerk and show that person or others that I know more than they do. I hate those who contradict things just to feel more intelligent or just to feel better about themselves.

I think there is a line between finding fun in contradiction and actually being confrontational, so yes, I enjoy contradicting every now and then. I don't even try and do it purely for enjoyment, but I find that going against the status quo often leads to rewards that are themselves enjoyable. As an example, I took an alternative career path and am doing substantially better than anyone else I went to school with. What bad things would have happened to me if I did what my guidance teacher told me to?! I find getting in the habit of regularly contradicting also removes certain types of fear. Lots of people are afraid of public speaking, but I absolutely love it. Part of the reason for this is that people always told me it was scary, so I told them it wasn't and then tried it out.

I have never noticed other people contradicting people on purpose, or as sport.

Yes, sometimes. It's a bad habit of mine, but I do like to contradict people quite a bit. In fact, I tend to pick out questions where I know for a fact my answer will be the unorthodox one. I have no idea why I do this. I guess I just like showing people that there are many different ways to live your life and it's all a matter of perspective.
