I google EVERYONE. Back when I was doing online dating, I would google potential suitors as soon as I had an email, a first and last name, a college they attended. It saved me some heartache. For instance, the guy I discovered had been a member of a polygamist Mormon sect. I don't tend to Google my current boyfriend or good friends as much - I tend to know most of what they are up to, though I wouldn't be beyond typing one of their names into the search bar if I was bored enough.
It would not bother me to find out people were googling me. I could hardly react badly to something I do so often myself. And you really should google yourself to find out what your online identity might look like to a potential employer, romantic partner, etc.
I can wile away many hours on Google. Best thing ever.

I've actually tried doing this! LOL! Just for the fun of it actually! I even have Googled myself just to see what pops up in searches, but the names of my family members and myself are so common that I'd have to dig through page after page of thousands, if not millions, of results before finding anything. It's just not worth it for snooping purposes. Why Google them when you should have their personal page info anyway on most every site where they are a member?
If you're suspicious, it's probably for a good reason and most likely because you already have an idea that they are sneaking around. In which case, you go digging just for evidence. Problem with digging up "evidence" online is you have very little idea just how old that "evidence" is so you could end up just making yourself look like a fool in the end.
If you look for trouble, you'll find it!

I don't necessarily Google my family members to keep tabs on them -- that'd be a bit creepy, and I generally trust them and know what they're up to -- but I've Googled them for fun a couple times, just to see what shows up. A lot of times, it's things you wouldn't even expect! Old school activities, plays, etc.
I expect they've searched for me from time to time, but nobody's brought anything up, and I'm pretty much OK with what shows up in my own Google search (yes, this means I Google myself regularly. I'm a bit egotistical sometimes), so I don't mind it.
I also extend this to non-family members from time to time, as sketchy as it sounds. But then, I'm sure a lot of people do and just don't talk about it. It's along the same lines as "Facebook stalking."

When I was using online dating sites a few years back, yes I would Google the men. I did talk with this man worked for a coveted university locally, drove a nice car, owned his own home etc so I am thinking nice guy. I checked his email and it came back as a comment on an escort service. Sorry any man I date will not have to lower himself to those standards I stopped talking to him and have never told him why I would not speak with him.
Anyone can search for me and they will find plenty of articles and comments which are all suitable for even kids!
