Friendship should probably extend the amount of time and steps taken to try and settle any difference out of court. That stated, if all of those efforts fail to bring about a satisfactory solution to whatever is being disputed, then a lawsuit should proceed.

One should keep in mind that suing a person that is also, or was, a friend will likely tarnish that relationship permanently. I would personally add another metric to the law suit trigger. If the amount that is being argued about is trivial, I would probably let it go. The way I see it, if it is something that would end up in small claims court, as opposed to a normal civil court, then I would charge it off to experience.

If a person does something deserving of a lawsuit, then they are not your friend.
A true friend would settle the matter with you, outside of court.
I would not allow a "friendship" to deter me from seeking my legal rights, if they were violated.
I hope that answers your question!

The person that has caused you to think this way was either not your friend to begin with or will not longer be once the court settles things for you.
If something has happened that caused you pain or injury or loss of money then you have the right to be compensated and friend or not that is your right.

Not if they are truly your friend. If they were your friend, you would both would work together to come to a compromise about whatever is the problem between you. If you do find it appropriate to file a lawsuit against a friend, don't be surprised to lose that person as a friend.

If you make the effort to seek legal advice take time sue and seek compensation, one would think their has been something that drove you to that point. A true friend would make an effort to resolve any disputes. Now if you lost a limb are forever dependent on others for care then yes your friend would know you had no other recorse. Unless your friend were to become an indentured servent to you than thats a different story
