I'm guessing you posted the info about TWLOHA because the article inspired you to ask the question, not that a hypothetical friend would be using the article to harm themselves, for instance, by carving the word LOVE into her arm with a razor or something.

I've always supported my friends during their depression. I always ask if I can be present to celebrate their choices. I'm not trying to take that choice away from them, I'm only asking that I can be there to support them. The offer, if not my physical presence, has been enough once I am able to convince them that I'm sincere and not just sensationalizing their pain.

Being alone is worse than death.

I like your response the most, as it is the most constructive advice. However, to clarify did you mean that those medicines are to be given while a depressed person is alone or for said friend to administer any of the 12 medicines listed above? I personally would try to administer one of them to my friend and not let them be alone. Giving them choices is good, but when left to their own devices depressed people do not do well with until a hobby or exercise aka medicine, has become HABIT. I would help them make it a habit to turn to one of these 12, as I know it would only take a few short weeks of visiting, calling and caring to help them gain a habit. I love the list, and I thank you for listing it!!!

I will take her into full confidence and will assure her/him that i am always there with her/him. i will try to know the actual cause of the particular problem and the main reason for that feeling. with my bundles of love, advise i will make her comfortable and try to bring her out diplomatic without her knowledge , of this problem. i will hug and give him/her warmth of my love and the feeling that i am there for her/him always and ever
