It depends on the song. If the song is about how much you love someone, and it is a positive romantic song, I would say when they are with me. When the song is playing, and your hearing the words, you look at them and immediately memories, thoughts and emotions of them just erupt!

If the song is about losing your partner, than it hits me hardest when I'm alone. Because hearing the words, and looking around to have no one there. Makes you feel alone, it makes you yearn to be with them, and sends you anxiously into their arms.

With my partner because more likely than not he is singing it to me. When I hear a romantic song and I'm alone it makes me naturally think of him and then I miss that he isn't there.

I'd say alone when I'm less distracted.

I always get more out of anything when I am by myself and can concentrate.
