Can someone please explain to me why Michael Bolton isn't popular any more?

I don't think he has released anything in a while. If he has then they have not advertised it . This could be why he has dropped out of popularity. I think he has a beautiful voice.

To stay popular, I think you have to change with the times, especially in the music industry. Madonna is a great example, whether you are fond of her work or not. I'm not really familiar with his music but most of the artists that have endured have had to readapt to fit the current market. I don't think he has done that. There are some artists that have gone away for a while and then come back. Some of the bands or singers from the 80's are making comebacks, maybe partly because of nostalgia but maybe because they have something new to offer that remind people of the past.

There are some bands whose sound endures over time and they continue to be popular, The Rolling Stones comes to mind. I'm not sure what magic they have but I think Bolton was considered more of a fad than a trend. And fads come and go with the wind, especially in music.

Ever since he starred in the movie Office Space, his career has been going south. ;)
