For me Tony Christie's Amarillo takes some beating!

I thought about this for a while, there are so many good ones. I nearly chose "New York, New York", by the incomparable Frank Sinatra. I changed my mind because it was the singer and not the song that I liked. I considered "Please come to Boston", but frankly, I would have had to post the Dave Loggins video over Kenny Chesney, and I didn't want to battle Kenny's fans. "Paint me a Birmingham" was a close second, a beautiful song.

I chose Walking in Memphis. It's an amazing song, and even though Cher had a huge hit with it, Marc Cohn's version is more integrated with the music, in my opinon. (guess I'm not afraid of Cher fans, but I mean c'mon, should I be?)

On the lighter side, I have friends in Beeton, Ontario, and I used to tease them about Beeton being the heart of Rock and Roll (trust me it isn't) because of this song by Huey Lewis "The Heart of of Rock and Roll is still BEETON?" Talk about a song with a lot of cities named, but not one in the title. I find this particularly funny because they compare "beeton" to LA, New York, etc (in my world).

This is my favorite one with a city name. But I really sorry that you will not able to understand the lyrics of this song because this song is a Bengali song. But if you listen this song you can hear "Hello Dhaka"(Dhaka is our capital city)

I know I should post here English song but I think this question is a opportunity to know our songs and culture. In this song singer saying that "hello dhaka can you hear me? I am saying that she is mine, hello dhaka can you hear me? note with carefully, she is mine only mine,"

So cool song. Please enjoy a foreign song. If you have any question about this song please make a comment, I can daubing the whole song.

You ask for a favorite song with a city name in it, and you ask for a why.

That's asking for a tautological response, for the why is because I do.

The city name is even in the title.

Chicago, Illinois

Here are 3 of mine:

Bon Jovi's Midnight in Chelsea, Frank Sinatra's New York, and Sheryl Crow's Leaving Las Vegas.

I always love Bon Jovi's mellower musics. Frank Sinatra makes me really really want to visit New York. It is so very "New York". And Sheryl Crow, because I like her music and her country-ish style.
