I never favored one of my children over the others, on purpose. When our two oldest sons would get in an argument, my wife would take one's side and I would most always take the other one's side. Did we each favor a different child? Probably! Not on purpose, which is my point. We actually perceived the situation different. The truth was probably in the in the middle, so things most likely ended up fair.
As they have gotten older and have moved on with their own lives, I find that our relationships ebb and flow. At times I will be close to one, at other times I will be closer to another. It just depends what is going on in our lives. I love all three, albeit, in different ways. I do not favor one over the other. I am there for any of them when they need me. When I am closer to one then the others it feels like I am favoring them, however, in reality, I am just closer to that one at the time.
