I bake and cook with my kids a lot. Here are some fun things that we have made.
You can make mini pizzas and let her choose the toppings that she likes, she can add them to her pizza.
Make cookies using cookie cutters and then decorate them with colorful frosting and sprinkles. She can help with the cookies and making the frosting different colors.
Homemade soup, let her cut the veggies with a pumpkin knife, it can cut veggies but it is safe for small kids to use because it really isn't sharp. My daughter loves to chop the veggies.
Scramble eggs or omletes, let her crack the eggs,my daughter who is 4 is an expert egg cracker! She can also mix the milk and eggs.
Cake or cupcakes are always fun!
Homemade popsicles, blend yogurt and fresh berries in a blender and then freeze in popsicle molds or ice cube trays, add a stick. Your daughter can cut strawberries with the pumpkin knife or can pour blueberries or raspberries into the blender, you can also add banana which she could cut up as well.
Muffins, let your daughter add the ingredients and mix. Get her to put the muffin liners into the pan. I always put the batter in the pan though as it can be messy!
We also make pancakes and french toast together. Here is my french toast recipe:
1/3 cup flour
1/3 cup sugar *you can add less if you want
1 tsp cinnamon
2/3 cup milk
3 eggs
thick sliced bread (white or whole wheat)
Mix the dry ingredients then add the milk and eggs, mix well. Dip the bread in the mixture and cook until golden brown on both sides. My daughter adds all the ingredients, mixes, puts the bread in. I take the bread out and do the cooking part. She loves both making the french toast and eating it!
You can buy kids knives that are like a pumpkin knife at this site:

but with Halloween coming up Target and Walmart should have them.
Here are a couple websites with some great recipes that kids can help with:

My daughter (just over 3) and I love to cook all sorts of things together. Our favorite is probably chocolate chip cookies (mostly because we really enjoy the end product). When we first started she would just run the mixer or stir the flour, salt and baking powder together. Each time we do it, I give her a little more...maybe measuring and adding the chips or dumping a different ingredient (measured by me). The more she can handle, the more I give her. Every once in a while some flour ends up on the floor.
Honestly, we can make all sorts of thins (pancakes, grilled cheese, etc.) it's just a matter of figuring out some part of the process that she can do and knowing what she can't...and having a little patience. It has been great. She is learning to pay attention, listen carefully and we both get great time together (plus some good food).
I think it's great that you are thinking about it and hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

My son loved making rock candy when he was little. It takes some time and it's not instant gratification, so I'm not sure if that's quite right for three year olds yet.
My daughter and I used to make puddings together, because that was something she could stir by herself. She also used to do scrambled eggs with me, and she took care of the scrambling.
Cookies are always easy, letting her dump the ingredients into the bowl. In fact, baking anything is fun to do with little kids, because you can measure out the ingredients into the cups and spoons, but let them do all the 'dumping'. That seems to be the favorite part for most little kids, the 'dumping' part.
Another one that is really fun for little kids is the Jello Wigglers. These are a blast to make, don't make too much of a mess, and then they are fun to hold up and wiggle around when they're done.
I love to hear that kids like to help in the kitchen. It seems with fast foods these days, cooking is really a lost art, and I just adore making a home made meal!
