Is it safe to fly when you are pregnant?
I have a friend who must attend a wedding this fall and take an eight hour flight. At that time she would be about 6 months pregnant. Is it save to fly such a long distance when you are that far along?

First rule of thumb for her would be to talk to her obstetrician to be absolutely sure. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists says flying is generally safe for most healthy, pregnant women - however, there are certain circumstances that would warrant staying home (high-risk pregnancies, for example). Some experts say the best time for a pregnant woman to fly is actually between 18 and 24 weeks, so your friend's timing may be good for this trip. Again, though, she really needs to discuss this with her doctor as soon as possible - just to ease her mind and be sure.
