No, you shouldn't, but not for the reasons you're thinking.

Cartoon violence doesn't mean anything to kids other than as something to laugh at.. and the reason they laugh is because they recognize the ironic difference between violence as portrayed in a cartoon versus how it feels in real life. Kid's who've never been in a fight don't laugh at violent cartoons, because they don't see the humor of how it's portrayed in the cartoon versus what it's like in real life.

No, the issue is that the limbic-system of a child's brain does not stop imprinting until about the age of four, and if they spend that imprinting-time gazing at flat 2-dimensional screen with lots of fast action, it gels something into the way they look at things, and the way they think about what they are seeing, that causes them to have very short attention spans with a high need for constant visual prattle.

The higher rates of ADHD today are a direct result of young kids being babysat by TV before their limbic system has finished imprinting, and that imprinting doesn't stop until about the age of 3.5 for girls, and 4 for boys.

After their limbic-system has finished imprinting, *then* they can TV without getting their vision and attention span all messed up.

Which means... you guessed it... Teletubies is about the worst thing you can do for a toddler.

I don't see why not.

I think all the studies claiming watching violence makes us more violent is non-sense. Did they have television and video games in the dark ages because they had plenty of violence. Historically humanity is a destructive and violent race and I don't see that changing because a cartoon is turned off.

I do think television time in generally should be limited to children as it offers little mental stimulation, but a little ninja turtles now and then isn't gonna hurt anything.

No, a child that age should be learning stuff, the right stuff. Turn on Thomas the tank engine, sesame street, blues clues or any of the other age appropriate shows that will help them learn good things when they watch tv.

Save the power rangers etc until they are like 8-10 years old..
