Answered Conundrum Next Conundrum
Your sweet, elderly neighbor gives you an ensemble of crocheted and hand-knit baby clothes for your newborn. You find the clothes horrible..
... but the gesture nice, and you definitely appreciate the effort put into making the clothes. Do you put them on your baby?

Yes I would put them on the baby and either go over to see her with them on or give her a picture. Since it was a gesture of care and not one of malice there would be no reason to be mean about it. Aside from color choice though, I don't think I have seen a really horrible crocheted item, unless of course she really didn't know how to crochet and then that might be another story. But even if one arm was longer than another, the baby won't be scarred for life to wear it a few times or just take a picture. If she's bad at crocheting and cooking, better to have the crocheted piece then worry about poisoning from the cooking.

Yes. I have a sweet, elderly neighbor and she is always doing nice things for my kids. She doesn't knit or crochet, but how /neat/ to have hand-made clothing, no matter how ugly. You don't have to wear them all the time. But it doesn't hurt you or the baby to wear the clothing once in a while, unless you're planning on being on the cover of People. :)
