I actually have to say that I am a bird and dog person. Birds are messy, loud, take alot more training generally than a dog or cat. But they are wonderful companions, and taken care of properly, can live 30-50+ years depending on the breed. I currently have a blue and gold macaw, and two parakeets. I had a blue crowned conure for 15 years and several cockatiels over the last 20+ years.
But since that wasn't the question, I also have two dogs - down from four. Three of the four have been rescue dogs. One that started out as a foster and never found a home besides ours, and two from Tri-State Collie Rescue in Ohio (I'm plugging them cause they are so awesome.) Both my collies have passed now (from old age 13 and 10) and we have the forever foster (a collie-shep mix age 12) and the only dog we got from a relative as a puppy (a white shep - age 10).
I do like cats but I like other people's cats because I do not want any in the house for a few reasons. One is that my mother is allergic to cats and she would have a difficult time visiting if there were cats. But another is that cat smell that many houses take on. I realize not all houses have this smell but some do and the owners obviously can't smell it or they would most likely do something about it. I would never buy a house where I knew a cat was or had lived because, while you may not smell it at first, once you move in, cat odors, if present, never go away unless you recarpet or (and i have seen this happen on several occasions), rip up the floor and put in new ones.
So dogs it is for me.

Both! I'm an animal person!
I grew up with dogs because my Dad thought he hated cats... until he got his first one, then he was hooked! I had my first kitty as an adult - she lived for 21 years! I currently have three exceptional cats, one amazing dog, and a teenager (don't laugh, teenagers should qualify as pets... it's the only reason we continue to nurture them!).
I love dogs for their enthusiasm, their happy nature, and because they will do almost anything to please their alpha (me). I love cats for their ingenuity, their propensity for clowning, and their independence. Getting affection from cats or dogs is always an honor, a bond of trust. Lavishing affection to cats or dogs is soul-soothing, a slice of peace.

Here are the answers, one by one;
1. I would prefer to be a Cat. They are more agile, silent and sneaky than dogs. They never fell on the ground on their back, they are so flexible and fit. Further, they say that cats have nine lives. Then, they have their big relatives (tigers, lions, leopards etc.). I can be one of them too.
2. I like both, but when it comes to be one, I prefer to be a cat.
3. I do not own a cat or a dog.
Hope you like that. Thanks

I have both cats and a dog as pets. I can easily say I am a dog person. And here are my reasons.
1. My cats are more decoration than companions. They sit in one spot all day, unless they need to eat or poop.
2. My dog will go for walks with me, and go for rides in the car. The cats attach themselves to the back of my neck with their claws when we have to take them in the car.
3. My cats shed like its snowing, my dog, is a yorkie....no shedding.
4. My dog shows love in return. He snuggles, and plays. The cats.....see reason 1.
I just prefer the interaction that a dog offers. Also they can be the difference in someone's safety, especially an elderly citizen or single female. While some cats offer nice companionship, all the ones I have ever had offered only.... furballs and poop.

I love dogs, they are beautiful, I especially admire the intelligence of the Border Collie. I would never own one.
I have cats, 5 of them, and all are spayed or neutered. People assume I am a cat person and have often given me cat items.
However.. I am NOT a "cat person". I don't own a dog because my lifestyle does not benefit a dog. I own a donkey and they tend to dislike dogs and may even kill one they do not know, but more than that with my work I do not have the correct time to devote to care and exercise of a dog. I feel I would not be doing a dog any favors by owning it.
I have fostered orphan dogs and pups for the SPCA, and that was pleasant, but the shorter time commitment worked out better.
I own cats because they fit with my lifestyle and are quite happy here (and donkeys are good with cats).
I am neither a cat or dog person, my real passion is horses (which I do not own any either at this time).
