I love taking my dog to the park but her hair is impossible to get out of my upholstery. What should I do?

I would take my dog to the park so much more often if it didn't take me forever to get her hair off my seats afterwards. I need some tips on what I should do.

There are dog seat cover protectors that fit over your back seat and they keep the hair from settling on the upholstry of the car. It fits over the back of the seat and totally covers it. You can get them to pretty much match your interior also.

If it's a longer haired dog you can try brushing regularly if not than bathing or trimming or shaving your dog is the way to go

You could try covering the seats with large plastic garbage bags, or try one of those new Pledge pet hair removers. I don't know how well they work but it might be worth a try.

A rubber glove, liquid fabric softener, water, and vacuum cleaner seem to be the most effective way. Spray the seats with a combination of the fabric softener and water, then rub it with a rubber glove to remove clumps of the hair. Vacuum away the rest. If your dog is exceptionally hairy, some tape may be required to get off the rest.

What does taking the dog to the park have to do with the dogs hair in the upholstery? In any event, you have to vacuum it off the furniture.

1.) It's all about getting a good seat cover. I like to keep a picnic blanket in the garage, and I tuck it in all around the seat when I get my dog into the car. Then it gets shaken out and remove it immediately when we're done. You can also invest in commercial seat covers which I hear work very well. Keep a dog hair roller in you car (but we both know it will still be a pain to clean up).

2.) You know you love your dog. And you know her happiness is really much more important than worrying about hair on the seats. So my advice is to just try to not worry about the dog hair. Treat yourself to a full car detailing inside and out 1-2 times a year, and otherwise take a zen attitude about everything. Dog hair in your car means you're loved and you're a good dog mommy/daddy!

The dog hair roller doesn't really work. Her hear weaves itself into the fabric of the seats.

You could walk to the park. Walking is great for you fun for the dog. If the park is very far away I'd second the seat cover idea. Even an old blanket you place on the seat just when the dog is riding in would do the trick.
