Conundrum Next Conundrum
Would you take your dog to a "Hotel for Dogs" to be pampered and cared for?
In Taiwan, two dog hotels have been created that allow the dogs to "liven it up" by providing VIP suites, pools, playrooms, and even doggie salons. While dog owners can bring their pups to the hotel to be cared for if they have to go away for a few days and can't bring their pets along, the hotel was also founded to serve as rescue shelters and accomodate stray, abandoned dogs from the streets of Taiwan. At approx. $ 14/day for doggie daycare, would you consider this option if you need somebody to look after your dog? Or this too much of a luxury option that dogs would likely not be able to appreciate?

What you're describing is simply a fancy kennel.
It's common and normal to take a dog to a kennel to be cared for if you have to go out of the country, or something like that, and they vary in prices.
If you can afford it, and if you think your pet will be happier in an environment like that than in a normal kennel, then sure... go ahead. The dog has to be taken care of by someone *somewhere* while you're away... might as well be a place where you know it will be well tended and which will make it easier for you to sleep while dealing with the other normal hassles of traveling... and again... if you can afford it.

This is really our dog, Fiona
$14 per day is a pretty good price to keep Fiona happy and well cared for. She loves playing and running around, and she loves other dogs. You can trust me to tell you that Fiona would know exactly what a good time she was having as queen of the kennel. She is spoiled at home and she WILL be spoiled everywhere, as she has declared it to be so!!

I would LOVE to find a decent doggie daycare that only costs $14 a day. In my area, they run $20 or more, and most of them are not places that I would want to leave my baby for any extended length of time. The times I have taken my Teddy to daycare, he has been nervous at first but quickly gets over that in favor of playing with the other dogs. When I pick him up, he is exhausted from the fun of the day. If I could take him more often, I would not hesitate to do so.

If I can afford to pamper my baby dog that way, you bet!
Yes it's a little extravagant, but my dog is my baby. He's only going to be on this earth for a short time, and I want him to have every possible luxury and bit of love he can. If I can't be available for a short time to give that to him personally, I would certainly pay for someone to pamper him for me.
I just wonder if they could make room for me too?
