Answered Conundrum Next Conundrum
Are you looking forward to Thanks Giving and Christmas this year? Why or Why Not?
While enjoying their "free sample lunch", I was wandering around my local CostCo the other day. The seasonal isles aren't filled with Halloween of Fall merchandise, they are full of Christmas items. From fully decorated Christmas trees to wrapping paper and gifts, my local CostCo has become an early sign that Christmas is literally around the corner.
What I found interesting is that while I was snacking on my crackers and looking at the toys was what other people were saying.
I heard comments such as: "Oh my, Christmas isn't going to be fun this year", "Why do they have to put Christmas in our face like this" and other negativley charged statements. I was really quite surprised.
Was this negativity a result of the same initial Christmas shock that I felt or is there something a little different going on?
How do you feel about Christmas this year? Are you looking forward to it?

I have a feeling that a lot of the negativity you are hearing is a result of the bad economic conditions the world is experiencing. For many people, Christmas has become a very commercial holiday, and the holiday items in the stores might make them feel nervous about the amount of money that they might soon feel expected to spend, or guilty because they know that this year's holiday season will be less extravagant than previous years. It is also possible that some of the negative reactions have to do with the fact that the holiday has become so commercialized. Those who prize the holiday for its religious implications might find the ever-earlier introduction of Christmas merchandise incredibly distasteful.
For me, I like the holiday season. I never have to cook (I am really bad at it!) so Thanksgiving is just a great day to hang out on the couch and eat a lot of great food. Since only my immediate family is anywhere close to me, I don't have a lot of familial pressures, which makes everything so much easier. My boyfriend's family is also extremely low-key, so they do not add to holiday stress.
As for Christmas, I love it. I listen to all the cheesy holiday carols, decorate my apartment and sleep on flannel "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer" sheets. I buy presents for some, get presents from some and go to church on Christmas Eve. While the day is not always stress-free, more often than not, it is quite enjoyable. Now that I am an adult, I occasionally host the holiday. And when I do, I buy fancy paper plates and plastic silverware - not having to clean up makes everything better.
My holiday season this year will be a bit more low-key than year's past - I am trying to save money for my return to school and pay off some outstanding debt. But I am excited nonetheless.

I am but I am not at the same time. It's nice to have the family here and I love to see the grand kids but it always takes place here at my house and I always get stuck with the work. The kids are running around, the guys are watching football, and I'm slaving away in the kitchen while my daughters sit around the kitchen gossiping actually watching me work. Needless to say I'm very glad when it's over.

I am definitely looking forward to Christmas this year because aside from my parents and my two brothers, I don't have anymore family here in the US. SO, every Christmas, my grandma comes to visit us. I am always happy to see her because it is the only time of the year that I get to spend time with her and enjoy her delicious food.

I am always looking forward to Christmas. This year is not an exception. The stores have tons of yarns and I am all excited about the cold season to feel the warmth and smoothness of the yarns and the excitement of creating. There will be more beads and glittery items to play with.
The craft isles are loaded with new items. A trip to the local walmart is very enjoyable. I love the craft section of walmart and I love going to the library. That are my way of a happy weekend. I already saved enough for the Christmas gifts. All I need is to go shopping. I would love to finish the shoppings early. Also, making some cute scarves to donate. So far 2 are finished. The 3rd is going to get started tonight.
I still have to decide which cookie will be for Christmas. Also, started a blog about Christmas in blogger. I need to blog about all the exciting Mahalo pages about Christmas and a little more.
I have seen the Costco Christmas items. For Christmas, I am more into Michaels and Walmart and t an added personal touch to gifts.
The course I am taking will be over by end of December. Very glad about that too. The economy can be bad. But holidays are holidays. People will be celebrating according to their pockets. But there is nothing to feel so negative about it.
