I'd give it to the flight attendant and hope they were honest enough to have the owner paged before they left the airport.

Inform a member of the flight crew. Could be a forgotten purse, could be something worse.

I would hand over the purse to the air-crew/air-hostesses. That's it.

Alternatively, one can also deposit the purse with the airport authorities when you reach your destination.

Finally, one can open the purse (I would not do it unless it is very much needed), look for any address or contact number and inform that he/she has left the purse and then send it via courier.

But I prefer the very first option. Thanks

In this day and age, I would not even handle it if I could avoid it. Inform a member of the crew as soon as possible, who should move it themselves. and If it is just a lost item, the crew will hand it over to airport lost property before the plane doors are closed. Chances are, the owner of the purse will still be in the airport for up to an hour after they de-plane, so they will have time to notice their loss and reclaim their purse. Personally I would not take on the responsibility of checking the owner's details and sending it on - you never know how people might react to you having 'searched' their bag. Whatever you do, don't wait until the plane takes off to inform anyone- that's far too late to be of any use!
