Answered Conundrum Next Conundrum
In the UK a band has been axed from a talent show after 1 member was found to be too young. Should there be a minimum age for these shows?
The girl band Tru Colourz (sic) went through to the final... of Xfactor. then it was announced that after the show producers found one of the girls was under 16, the age limit for the competition.
Should they have been banned? and is there a need for a minimum age requirement on these shows?

I think it is wise for the producers to put an age limit on talent shows for legal reasons and the story states that the girls were encouraged to apply again next year. The problem I have is that they shouldn't have been allowed to even be on the show in the first place, much less be allowed to compete as far as they did. The initial screening and auditioning process prior to the show should make sure that participants are old enough to compete.
If they let them compete as far as they did, they should let them finish. Talent is talent regardless of your age, but for the participants' safety and well-being, I do not feel that the producers are wrong for setting an age limit. They are wrong, however, for allowing them to compete and so I think they should have let them continue. Good luck to the girl group in next year's competition!

Rules are rules. The show had clear entry age criteria that the girls would have known about.
The age limit is to protect them and the show.
I think being dishonest like this was a silly thing to do, the girls can always reapply next year when they will be old enough. I think the show has taken a positive and correct decision.
