Yeah stuff can get to bad for tv they should put it on pay per veiw cause if you do not block something because you don't feel like going through all of the channels then you obviously skip some and if your kid finds them then that would be horrible and there might be some people at your house wouldn't that be embarrassing.

Yes! But I have a very low "hotness" thresh hold. I thought The Sopranos was too hot for TV, what with all those scenes in the strip club and what not. Filthy. I liked the show, but they just went too far with graphics on the sex that went on. I miss the days when all the sex on TV was off screen. You knew it was going on, but you didn't SEE it going on. As others have mentioned, many people watch TV with their kids or with company. Who wants to see sex come on the screen in front of either?

There are some commercials that may not be "hot" but certainly are inappropriate for the time of day they are shown. I'm referring to the stranger talking about his erectile dysfunction at all hours of the day including Saturday mornings. How would ED be explained if a seven year old boy or girl should ask?

This can be a really controversial question when presented to the different elements of society. Many would answer that nothing should be censored and it is the parent's responsibility to police what their children watch. Others would comment that many of the current programs should be censored to control what gets on the airwaves or should be controlled as pay per view. Both of these responses then bring into play constitutional rights, which lately are being twisted to meet the politicians' agendas. They are not being read verbatem, but are being interpreted as needed.
The bottom line is that we have / live in a society where many of the citizens have grown up in a world that allows or even in some cases condones or emphasizes immorality as being the norm. We have lost the life-style that made America great and are failing to realize the importance of morality. If you are a member of Hollywood, the film industry or even the News Medias, the name of the game is making money. Since that is the case, then regrettably they realize the lack of morality and indecency is a money maker, and they jump at the opportunity fro monetary; even though it is leading our society into ruin.
The bottom line is that yes; there is too much violence, sex and intimate relationships displayed on the screen and they are contributing to the decline of a once great society. Children watch violence and believe that is the ay life is supposed to be. They watch infidelity and believe it is the norm, and the list goes on and on and on. So the final question is; when is there too much freedom and is a freedom that infringes on the rights of others acceptable?
The great society debate; "What is freedom and where do it's limits become an infringement on the freedoms of others"?

I believe that TV should be uncensored in every aspect. As a parent I take an active role in making sure that my son only watches shows appropriate for him. Kids have a lot of channels to watch their cartoons and child appropriate shows such as: Nickelodeon, Disney, PBS, Sprout, all the other versions of these channels. Also, where I live there is a local channel that plays childrens' shows all day long.
The real thing is, we are granted the right to make whatever we want as long as we are not hurting others. We all have control over what is seen on the televisions in our own home. With the current rating system there should be no censorship over television programs. People should just block the adult rated shows when their children are watching TV.
There are many other countries that do not censor their TV programs, they just have parents that play active roles in their childrens lives. It's not TV that screws people up, it's the uneducations in society that allow people the believe what they see on TV. If you teach your children values and morality they will hold these to be truths throughout their life. The people that blame TV and music for kids doing the things they do need to stop and take a look at the things going on around them. The kids that take guns to school aren't doing it because they listen to Marilyn Manson or watch violent TV shows. They do it because they are being bullied or singled out and nobody ever steps in to help them. If people took a more active role in the lives of our youth they would have no question about what is right and what is wrong.
If you don't want the youth of America to be so screwed up, take an active approach to teaching them values. Don't wait until something goes wrong and then blame the TV shows and music they listen to. Blame yourself for kids messing up. Too many people are so quick to blame society when they are the ones not taking part in their childs life.
The point is, don't censor TV to death. Spend some time with your children and teach them the difference between right and wrong. Take the time to set the parental controls on your TVs at home, the rating system was designed for that purpose. Television censoring is a conflict to the rights of the people making the shows. I believe in the freedom of all people. People should be free to make their shows anyway they want to, and viewers are free to block the content they don't want to see at home.
Stop blaming Hollywood for the bad things that happen, and be a better contribution to society.

Amazing I got to see this today . a friend was complainting about an add of two minors deciding to do it on a specific brand of matrass. We thought it all very inappropriate advertising. Too fast kids think that whats on TV is normal, and often its not normal but sick and sickening the whole society.
Advertisors want to make money for themselves and for their add buyers. They don't care about the morality issue, and care not too much of the eternal laws of chastity, modesty and selfcontrol which keep societies healthy

There is a line that is often crossed by the media. I believe that television is education to a degree. It does not replace real life experience. What I believe is wrong is over censoring because being ignorant will lead youth and society to ruin far faster then being exposed to fables and explicit content. Although harsh images of violence and sex can be detrimental to youth it is because how it has been viewed for so long that it is such. Sex and violence is a natural occurrence and TV often reflects the real world, although the act should be censored and used as an image when in appropriate context ( The Sopranos is a television show about a socially inept man, his view of sex and relationships all together is skewed which reflects the program content) Children are growing up with little understanding of sex and violence. They are sheltered up to a certain age when they are then bombarded with images that do not reflect reality(certain sexual images anyway, violence on TV doesn't half reflect reality which is much crueler). Sexuality in humans should be celebrated, hetero and homo~, why should a woman's breasts be the cause of so much ire when every child bonds to their mother by breast feeding? sexuality is a powerful thing and censoring it confuses children more then not. (many people, mainly women, grow up feeling ashamed or confused about their desire and sexuality because of the media. Boys feel pressure too) If viewed in the right light i believe a healthy sexual relationship is a good thing for children to see.. and the adults in a child's life should realize they are being watched and examined too. Violence on the other hand is a harder to embrace subject. It is an instinct humans as animals turn to for control and in times of confusion. To deny this will only make it worse. Teaching your children empathy, compassion and understanding for others will help them deal with their violent tendencies. When confronted with violence children should learn how to deal with it too, educate children on self defense and how to diffuse a heated situation. Obviously this is an issue for society and ignoring it by not putting it out there will only make it worse. Hiding your dirty laundry does not work. Eduction can not be all at once but a slow and sure process exposing children to social issues which they will sooner or later face. I do not have a PH D or anything~ I was just raised by sensible parents who ensured I had a mind of my own. Btw I'm from Canada, land of fairly wholesome tv shows.

Wow........just because people are too lazy to censor a channel you think we should edit art? i mean are you not going to take them to museums because some of our great artists painted Women/Men in the nude? Really america is one of the worst censored country's out there dont make it worse than it already is no such thing as too immoral maybe for children but thats just until you can teach em right from wrong when they understand that its ok for them to watch anything, we treat sex as if its the most wrong thing in the world and you know what its "NORMAL"! ive been watching movies with sex in them since i was like 8 and i still choose not to have sex until i was married thanks to a mother who taught me that that one person you truly love is who you should give yourself too but society is what corrupts people not TV you can teach your kids about right and wrong through TV its just enjoyable to watch, there is nothing in this world that should be insulting embarrassing or racy or what the hell ever you want to call it people who take insult to things are people with insecurity's people just need to look themselves in the eye and figure out what is wrong with themselves and we wouldn't have this censorship problem in america......

The only thing "too hot" for TV is violence, not sex. What are we teaching our children? That people don't have sex? Well that's a lie! And there's so much violence on TV but it's okay as long as its not gorey??? We'd prefer them to believe that when people get shot, there is no blood? Well that's a lie too! I think sex is a healthy part of life and even children can understand that. Why do we lie to our children? They are smarter than we think. I would prefer that they see sex in a positive way. I don't want them getting brainwashed into thinking violence is okay, and sex is bad or "too hot."
