What do you think of ''Kate Plus 8''?

TLC will continue ''Jon and Kate Plus 8'' with Jon Gosselin as just ''Kate Plus 8''. Would it have been just to cancel the show? Are the children being exploited?

It takes two to make a marriage work of fail. I think it is a mistake to make the show "Kate Plus 8" That implies that she was the one who was done wrong. In some ways, yes she was, but did you see the way she treated him on the show? Jon was treated worse than any hired help. She critized, complained, bossed him around unmercifully. I think the children are dealing with enough with their dad out of the home, I don't think they should be constantly under the eye of the camera. Cancel the show!!

I think they are popular because they had to many kids. I would much rather see a program where cameras follow a NORMAL family throughout their day. With life at home slipping into such a state of disrepair for so many kids, we need to bring back some “Little House on the Prairie” or “Our House” type programming.

Kids today definitely need to realize that folks with good common sense and strong values still exist, and that the world isn’t entirely comprised of freaks and over-reactors. :)

This program should be cancelled...no doubt about it, watching it for longer than 5 minutes is too long!

I think this is a prime example of what fame and fortune can do to the American family. They let the fame and money interfere with what is important, which is family. I think it should be canceled. It is obvious they can't handle the fame and the children have to be suffering from various issues.

I actually liked this show before all the craziness. I feel bad for the kids. They're going to have a pretty tough life if the show ends up being canceled but I can't see people watching it anymore once the hype dies down. I haven't really had interest since all this stuff has been going down, so I haven't watched it at all.

I watched a marathon of this show one day when I was sick on the couch with nothing better to do, and I ended up watching it for like 9 hours straight, mesmerized in horror.

I really dislike Kate and hate how she degrades and patronizes John. She's often mean to the kids, in a snappy, not thinking about it sort of way.

Jon is a wuss, and I wanted to tell him to grow some balls, but then he turned around and... well, yeah, whatever.

And then I thought... wow, I can't believe I'm sinking into the negativity that is this show and life of these poor people and kids.

I wondered if they were doing it for the money, that many kids being expensive and I'm sure they needed it, but if they'd managed the money wisely, it should have been enough already to set them for life.

I really feel sorry for the kids, in particular the twin girls who are old enough to sort of know what's going on.

It's all so sad to me.

But cancel a show that is still making them money? It won't happen until the money and ratings go down. So while I hear so many people say they hate the show and it should be canceled, ratings clearly show the majority are still watching.

As much as I would love to judge Kate, Jon and the show as a whole -- I really shouldn't. The majority of what I "know" of them is based on television editing and tabloid reports. I have never walked a mile in Kate's shoes to understand why she is the way she is. I have never had nor will I ever have large sets of multiples to understand that sort of responsibility. I could drive myself to anger assuming why the show must go on or why family has fallen apart but the truth is, I do not know the reasoning behind it. Is it greed? Is there a fear of losing financial stability? Who knows.

The show has given the Gosselins marvelous opportunities and there is nothing wrong with that. However, I think that Kate is strong willed and motivated enough that she will be capable of succeeding and providing for her children without the need for "Kate Plus 8".

I do not think the show is a bad idea (obviously not a good one) but I do not think it will last anyways. Ratings have been dropping and I do not think a name or plot change will bring back those who were once fans.

I think we can all do with "Kate Minus 9", including her.

As for exploiting the kids,
they won't remember it years from now,
and, unless the parents spend all the money they're getting
for the show, appearances, royalties, etc,
they'll have plenty for college.

I think it is too late to be worried about the children being exploited. The real damage will be done when they are old enough to understand the actions of their parents. Being on television is all they have ever known. These children may be psychologically harmed if the program were not continued. I am certain like all children of divorce, that they are already feeling like they have contributed in some way to the problems between their parents. If the show was discontinued it may possibly lead them to believe that they were also contributing to the demise of the show.
