We could happily spend a week around the house.
However, if we actually have a full week available, we would most likely use that time to travel in order to visit the family we have in another state. A couple of close friends also live there. So, it wouldn't really be a vacation but an opportunity to spend time with people we have not seen in a while. When we've done that in the past, we've made sure to come home when there are still two days left in the week in order to get some rest. We don't exactly get much sleep or relaxation on those trips.
When we go on an actual "vacation," that usually means a quick weekend not far from where we live. For example, we might drive to a nice lodge in the mountains and enjoy their pretty rooms, fireplaces and great restaurant for a day or two.
We've been so increasingly busy over the past few years that a week around the house choosing what to do with our time sounds pretty terrific!

If I only had a week, I would probably stay home, but do some day trips, to go hiking or something. For one week, it's not really worth spending the time and money to travel too far. I love going to other countries, but the airfare is so expensive, and the travel time so long, it's only worth it if you have a few weeks, in my opinion.
I couldn't just sit around the house for a week because I would get bored. Fortunately, I live in an area where you can drive to really good hiking in less than an hour, to the mountains in less than an hour, to the ocean in about two hours, and to lots of other things to do. So, I would do a mix of relaxing at home and doing short trips.

I live in vacationland (Florida) and I hardly ever go to the vacation spots around the state, in fact, in 13 years, I've seen few of them. I think of a vacation as a time to relax, and sometimes traveling to somewhere else is too much stress, especially if there are kids involved. I think day trips to places of interest are a much better vacation, because you can come home to your own bed at night, and not have to pay for hotels and meals. You'd be surprised how much there is to see a half day's drive from your home.

Since I never go on vacation and don't work outside the home, I guess it is normal to stay at home for a vacation. I'm a homebody anyway and I would rather stay at home then spend money to go somewhere on vacation. Besides with five dogs, it's a little difficult to go anywhere for very long.

We can happily spend a week around the house -- but if we had the money we would much prefer to go somewhere. We are trying to see all 50 states in our lifetimes. We have been to Hawaii, half the Midwestern states, two Southern states and all the Western states except Alaska, so far. I think we have about 25 states left to see.
If we won the lottery, then we would make arrangements with Amtrack to let us take our dogs on the train, and take the train all over the US.

I can if I have to, but even if I don't go somewhere for vacation at least I want to go around the town, visiting malls, eating out, meeting friends, and not just staying at home. But if my financial situation doesn't allow me to, I can easily spend my time watching TV, playing computer games, cook, and of course, doing Mahalo tasks at home for a week or maybe more.

We do occasionally go somewhere for vacation but it's always in our own state. We are not big on spending most of the vacation time traveling. We are just as happy staying at home as a matter of fact we had a stay-cation last summer.

Of course the answer depends on the individual, but with some creativity a person could have a wonderful vacation at home. One idea may be to turn your home into a vacation spot you wanted to go to. Play some theme music, dress up in vacation clothes, lounge and relax. I have spent many "vacations" at home, and had plenty of phone. Keep it positive
