Vacation or Staycation?
Do you like to travel? Or, do you prefer to spend your days off relaxing at home? Staycation is the word we hear bandied about nowadays, to mean relaxing at home instead of traveling, during time off.

There are times that I really love to travel and go see places, but I have to admit that the traveling part is sometimes as tiring as the work/world that we are trying to escape from. So I really don't mind the staycation because it's a chance to actually relax and not worry about the itinerary.
I think I feel this way because for many vacations, I used the time to visit family that were too far away. If I wanted to see my mother and father, I would have to spend the only time I had, which was vacations, to go see them (and mind you that they have been divorced since I was little - so I would have to alternate). Now, I really like to stay put because of all the traveling that I had to do in the past. Or, I could actually use vacation to go see really interesting places. Having the choice is nice.

If I can afford to travel, I love to travel. There are so many things that I want to see and do, and I figure I only have one life to do those things in. In order to see all of the parts of the world that I want to see, I need to use my precious vacation days for travel.
I do enjoy lazy days around the house, but if there's more than a couple of them in a row, I feel like I need to be doing something like organizing closets, shampooing carpets, etc. I end up not really relaxing, and I often feel anxious, wondering if I should be doing something more worthwhile.
I'll always remember Ireland. I won't always remember the day I laid on the couch watching reruns.

I like both, and also a third kind for which there is no word... time off where people come to stay with you!
Especially when that's my sisters and their kids, it's a whole bunch of fun!
If I had plenty of vacation time and money, I'd divide it between all three kinds.

I love a vacation away from home. There is nothing like going to another city or state to site see or whatever you feel like doing. I think alot of times when people stay home instead of going away it could mean work for them. I always find things that needs to be done or look for things that need to be done and that can lead a vacation at home to feeling much like work !!
How Beautiful !!

I have always traveled and I would do so at every opportunity. I have been fortunate in visiting scores of countries on most continents. However, now I stay home. The physical and emotional demands that travel makes in this security-obsessed age, combined with the failure of customer service in most classes of travel, makes it just beyond my ability to cope.
In future, I will be re-learning parts of my city and region and thoroughly enjoying that process.

Since I spend most of my time at home doing online jobs and taking care of home business, I would choose vacation. I just feel I need to unwind too and see new places. I think it's not bad since I've been staying home for several years now and I really had not find time to relax and see new places - for a change also.

Typically, unless we have planned a trip way in advance, our time-offs from work are spent at home relaxing or undertaking small trips to places nearby (such as the zoo, a museum, the waterpark, etc). In the past, my husband’s and my vacation time was somewhere around one week, so in our minds that would have been not long enough to plan a vacation and travel. When my husband used to be in the military and we were stationed in Germany we would take some of his time off to go explore the country and visit places filled with culture and sights to see. However, I now wish we would have traveled to nearby European countries as well and maybe made plans to visit places like Spain, Greece, or other warm areas with beaches, sand, and ocean nearby. That would have been nice, especially when we had only one child to take with us. LOL. Now, my husband’s job only provides him with one week of vacation time per year (until he is employed there for a few years) and this year we are actually planning a trip to visit his family in Ohio. Although we are technically not leaving the states, we are able to get away from our everyday lives here where we live.
