It actually happened to me...so sad but I'm better now because before that happened, I already seemed to have a clue that it would really happen so I was right. When the recession seemed to be at its worst (as I would like to think so), the online site where I was working before seemed to restrict foreign workers by taking away the payment facility that would cater also to international workers, I was one of those who got hit. Thanks to good God that He seemed to give me a clue what to do. So, before that happened, I opened a small internet cafe business in our zone. Now, I am not worrying that much because I know we won't be starving anymore. I have been helping my husband earn a living, too because it's difficult if we would only depend on his salary (government employee). If we had no loans then it would be okay for us but we need to send our children to good school also so we have to earn extra income for that. Now, I still do other online jobs but just part-time not like before.

So, my tips to those who are like me, prepare for the future. Be ready for things even before they happen. And work in advance in order for you to be confident when difficulties come. And if you have other skills, enhance it or better it and apply for new jobs related to it. You should think for backups. For example, review your skills and get certified for what you have finished. I myself have graduated medical transcription but I wasn't working as a medical transcriptionist. But, I am reviewing it now because I always prepare for the future. Business is also not stable sometimes so I need to have other options. I, in fact, am planning to take an MT certification. And I would apply online as a home-based MT or I would apply in a company so I would have an experience. You can also apply for work related to your former job. Just be ready, think ahead and work for your future! These are the best tools that can surely help you.

It depends on your area of skills. After you pick your area of skills decide what it is you like to do. Then find out with these two combined what is the pay scale for the different objectives and what your needs are. Then you take the three and decide what areas you would compromise to come to a decision for your life.

I read several freelance writing boards. One that I like and that continually has good links to many different other good freelance boards is www.freelancewritinggigs.com. There are often blog posts about how even in times of seeming freelance prosperity, we should always have our eyes on the next client. This way, when one client goes away, there are others to take it's place. One suggestion was to never let any one client be more than 30% of your business. Obviously though, if you have not prepared for this, the next part is to market yourself once again. If you aren't sure, there are some free helpful places to look, such as SBA and SCORE. While these seem to cater to more physical places of business, many of the marketing tactics can be used by any business environment. Perhaps your website needs and update or perhaps you don't have a web presence at all that promotes your business. Maybe you need to look for clients in places that you might not have before. For instance, many freelance writers might think that internet content is the only thing that is available. In fact, many business hire freelance writers or contractors to write their copy, reports, newsletters, etc. So it might be a matter of looking in different areas. Again, you can find a lot of helpful information about freelance writing on the above mentioned board, especially other markets to look at besides internet writing.

Now, I'm not assuming that internet writing is the client that you are losing; however, some of the principles may be the same. But definitely avail yourself of the free help of SBA and SCORE.

This is why you develop a network of others who work at home, or work online. I have had several suggestions made to me for alternative sites to work for when one wasn't working out. I just got a great tip today from someone about how to get into a site I thought I wouldn't be able to apply to.

Networking is the best way to find a job. It's a well known fact that 90% of all jobs filled never hit the newspaper or online ads. They are filled by someone who was recommended.

Yes, I keep my fingers in a few different pies always, in case one dries up. Another good source for finding freelance work online is

www.elance.com

They have an escrow system where customers give them the money and they pay you once you finish the assignment. They have writing assignments but they also have virtual assistant and other administrative assignments.

It is happening to me right now but I have found new jobs. I looked on WAHM.com and Accentuate Writers forum and found a few jobs on there. My main source of income is Demand Studios and although they have a lot of titles to choose from, they don't have anything I am interested to write about lately. So now I write for Break Studios and am trying to get on the Mahalo How to team.

There are all kinds of placing that you can make money online you just have to know where to look and be willing to put forth a little bit of effort. I personally use 3 really great websites I have posted them below with explanations of each:

http://www.zoombucks.com/join.php?ref=spunkymel3
You can search and win, take part in special offers, or complete the daily surveys you get points for all of these and then trade them in for gift cards to places like amazon, target, walmart, nordstrom etc.

http://www.swagbucks.com/refer/Spunkymel3
Its a search and win site so its like using google but soemtimes you win points you can also do speical offers if you want and can trade in for gift cards or PAYPAL CASH

http://www.irazoo.com/ReferedNewUser.aspx?Refby=spunkymel3
Only a search and win site so just search like you would on google and you will get points for random searches and you can trade them in for gift cards.

In a typical month I can easily make an extra $200 from the 3 websites. If you put in more effort you could probably make more. You're not going to get rich quick but it fure sure help.
